EU rules and e-labels

Digital wine labels still need correct data.

Many providers deliver the QR code and page quickly. The content check still matters.

What this is about

An e-label is part of product communication, not just design.

Regulation (EU) 2021/2117 puts digital consumer information for wine in focus. In practice, a QR code on the label usually leads to an e-label page with ingredients and nutrition values.

But a working QR code is not a content check. The page is only reliable when the details actually fit together.

Many providers, little control

Many solutions are strong in design, hosting, or generation. Factual correctness usually remains with the bottler, importer, or retailer.

Errors are more than cosmetic

Wrong alcohol values, ingredient lists, or nutrition data can trigger warnings, questions, or sales stops.

Trust needs clean data

A digital label signals transparency. That also raises expectations for reliable, correct content.

Why check

Technical delivery and content must be checked separately.

A QR code does not tell you whether mandatory information is missing, values match the label, or page and product data are consistent.

e-label-check.eu compares label, QR code, and landing page in one flow so deviations show up earlier.

What matters

Four questions before release.

Do label and e-label match?
Contradictions between bottle, QR code, and landing page are a common release risk.
Are mandatory details easy to reach?
It is not enough that content exists; it must be clearly available on the right page.
Do nutrition, ingredients, and alcohol values fit?
Silent mistakes often happen when data is copied from templates, spreadsheets, or third-party systems.
Does the page feel trustworthy?
Clean content creates credibility in trade and with consumers.
Release with confidence

If you use e-labels, check the content too.

Use QR code and e-label providers for the technical delivery. Do not rely on assumptions for content correctness.
